Term2.png DISCUSSION PANEL
Discussion amongst a small group of not more than ten experts on an assigned subject. The discussion is held in the presence of an audience who are allowed to share their views and ask relevant questions to the panelists at the end of the debate. The purpose of the panel discussion is to provide information, analyze a problem and structure ideas.

The panel discussion is normally composed of the instructor, the panelists and the moderator. The instructor prepares the schedule, the panelists are experts in the subject of discussion and the moderator facilitates the discussion. The moderator sits amidst the panelists and helps keep the discussion focused, encourages interaction and finally summarizes the ideas discussed.

Although panel discussion’s aim is to provide information and encourage discussion, it also contribute to develop the ability of problem solving, to facilitate the understanding of problems emerging from the discussion and to develop the capacity of respecting different perspectives.[1]
