Term2.png LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (LMS)
Software that supports the guidance and management of learning process in e-learning. Its functions are to enable or limit access to course content, record and monitor the learning progress of individual learners, manage participant and tutor data. An LMS is typically designed to handle courses by multiple publishers and providers. It focuses on managing courses created by a variety of other sources. [1] Two other popular terms that are used to refer to this system are: Content Management System (CMS) and Virtual Learning Environments. The difference between these terms is often debated and there does not seem to be much of a consensus amongst learning professionals on the exact distinction between them.
