| Is a type of evaluation that focuses on the outcomes or impactsof a programme, project or policy. An impact evaluation attempts to make a "casual inference" that connects the evaluand with an outcome. Impact evaluation also refers to outcome or summative evaluation which contrasts sharply with formative or process evaluation whose main purpose is to describe how a programme operates (process).[1] Information generated by impact evaluations can help inform decisions on whether to terminate, expand or modify a particular programme or project.
