Clear general statement of the purpose of a training course and its expected outcomes in terms of what the trainees will achieve. The goal focus training managers, team members, and subject matter experts on the desired effect of a training course. The goal is written from the content’s perspectives. It provides an overall description of what the training will cover and how it is organized. The goal does not replace the learning objectives for it does not contain the three required components of an objective – performance, conditions, and standards. Moreover, the goal is written from the content’s perspectives whereas objectives must be written from the trainee’s perspective, clearly indicating what the result of the training will be in terms of behavioral changes.
