| A presentation, in narrative form, of an actual event that has occurred. An in-depth exploration of the event (situation or subject)contributes to gain understanding into the issues being investigated. Case studies are designed to develop critical analysis and decision-making skills. It can consist in the application of management principles to simulated or real-life situations in order to give learner practice in applying their analytical skills as well as theoretical [knowledge]]. Case studies are used when the goal is to enable learners to apply previously learned theories or practices to the circumstances in the case, decide what is pertinent, identify the real issues, decide what should have been done, and develop a plan of action.
