Used as a form of ex-ante evaluation. An appraisal seeks to establish the relevance, feasibility and potential sustainability of a programme or project prior to implementation. An appraisal may also relate to the examination of opinions as part of the process for selecting which programme or project to fund. Criteria commonly used in an appraisal include relevance and sustainability. [1] [2] [3]
