Double-Loop Learning

DOUBLE-LOOP LEARNING |
Type of learning that is also called higher level or generative learning as it involves reflection and reasoning on the given materials or instructions to design and implement actions. This kind of learning goes beyond the single-loop learning, because it occurs by challenging and reshaping the underlying rules. When an organizational environment operates according to double-loop learning, in addition to detection and correction of errors the organization is involved in the modification of existing norms, procedures, policies and objectives.
Double-loop learning requires creativity and critical attitude: participants learn what makes a particular way of solving a problem better than others. [1] See also: Triple-Loop Learning |
