ONLINE FACILITATION |
Online facilitation is a technique to oversee the course of action undertaken by a group of learners in an online environment so that they are supported in meeting pre-determined objectives within set timeframes. Sometimes also referred to as moderation, this practice entails applying methods of a varied nature, ranging from providing assistance and encouragement to using mechanisms for productively engaging learners, for sustaining the learning that is being undertaken. Therefore, by supporting exchanges and collaboration among group members, facilitation is designed to favour learning and aid the development of knowledge without letting the degree of technological expertise that participants may or not have affect this process. In terms of pedagogy, such a method is directed at fostering engagement among learners and encouraging knowledge and experience sharing. [1] |
