Term2.png THEORY: Hypothesis, or a concept that is not yet verified but that if true would explain certain facts or phenomena. A theory gives a detailed explanation of the behavior of a physical system based on experiments. It is a supposition of ideas explaining something, especially one based on general principles independent on the particular things to be explained. A theory is not necessarily based on facts; in other words, it is not required to be consistent with true descriptions of reality. [1]
